As I was visiting blogs I found a comment in JotaSantos' that would be worth discussing about. It says:

dear commentators, i really appreciate your enthousiasm, but a lot of people can't share it with you because of the portuguese language. this group and this blog is for everybody, so what would be more natural than using a language that most people understand. i would like to have your opinion on this matter, but i am inclined to erase in future all comments which are not in english. this is not a vote, i will decide in this matter before 1 januari 2006

Personally I believe that the language in which a comment is made is not important at all, what is really important (or meaninful in this context) is getting the comment itself (after all there are lots of other blogs where the comment would be appreciated). The fact of getting a comment means that the person who left it feels the photo is worth commenting, and giving an ultimatum to a person that, either the comment is written in certain language or deleted, in my opinion, is absolutely rude and even insulting.

If a comment is not understood, why not make an effort and at least try to find out what it says?

This is my point of view, anyway, what do the rest of you think about it?

I left mu opinion on jota's blog...but I'll repeat it here...

Im totally against the whole writting in english, as Jota said.... if the group has a problem with the language used, they should make it clear from the start! I think that even though the portuguese language is used in many occasions....this blog world continues & maintains a certan culture barrier!
In other words.... there exists difference.... and thats one of the factores thats keeps me addicted to this world!

so.....
...to whoever concerned, write in russian if u have to.... i have no problems! :)

kiss Jo*

(nice to see u helping the debate on matters that actually matter :P)

p.S: so much talking & i almost forgot to say how much i enjoyed this profile pic! its a beauty!

Feliz Navidad!

Beautiful portrait of a beautiful man, that's it, Jo !!!
You're right about the used language ... and Jorge is one of the kindest blogger I know. When I got a comment in Portugese, for instance, I asks friendly what it means and I always get the translation, even in bad english. NEVER it was refused ... and just like Jorge says, even if it is Arabian or Chinese, I cherish them as much as the english comments.
You're a great warm lady, Jo

I don't know what language this guy speaks, but the expression on his face is universal !!!
The more languages we know, the richer we are...
And that is as simple as applepie.
I wish I could write this in Portuguees to, but I'm rather poor in that language ;-(
