Photoblog has new owners
May 02, 2008 - 03:37 pm | general
Hello All,
We would like to announce some big news: a few weeks ago Photoblog was acquired by Omeyocan, a venture that focuses on web development and open source solutions. We are a small (2-person) company, no giant nor anonymous machine. Our aim is to make a 180° turn and start on a clean sheet.
We want to continue bringing back what made PhotoBlog a place worth staying around for: a strong community that creates a panorama of photography around the world.
We vow to not repeat the site's previous mistakes and hope to take the site back to better days, all this together with your strong input and support. By implementing new features whenever possible, the site should become exciting and fun again.
Our first step towards this direction was fixing immediate bugs and problems, and as a second step we would like to announce the re-implementation of the help service. It will be open for you to let us know what goes wrong, what needs changes, and hopefully, for friendly words as well.
We hope you stick around and bear with us on the path to a better future for the site. We certainly want to make it all happen. Give us a few weeks and the first changes should start being visible.
In the meanwhile: shoot bright,

On Censorship
Mar 06, 2008 - 10:13 am | general
The community re-opened a discussion on censorship based on an episode that happened recently: this blog had its pictures erased from the system.
PhotoBlog would like to clear the air and explain we were not involved in the deletion of said images. We are working to try to figure out what happened - a system error, a hacker invading this user's account, or something else. We would like to assure that it is not our policy to censor images because of nudity. It was discussed before and stated on a open letter to users that this procedure only happens in case of copyright infringements, or use of material too explicit. We vow to believe neither were the case in the user's situation.
We are currently working on making the site operational again and fix problems that were overlooked for understaffing, and hope to open a new chapter on the site's history soon. We hope you all stay with us to write this history.
Shoot bright,
